Training
Every aprentice must travel to the moonstone with a leader before they become a warrior
Every single mentor and apprentice pair must go through the following training regimen then be tested in it (Order is not important):
LESSON 1 ;;
Hunting & scenting
You must teach your apprentice how to catch:
- VOLES ;; Hard to catch, great hearing, mainly found around rocky areas [All Clans, most common in RiverClan]
- MICE ;; Found everywhere [All Clans]
- RABBITS ;; Mainly found on the moor, but have been known to venture into other territories [All Clans, most common in WindClan]
- STARLINGS ;; Small birds that like trees and sun [All but WindClan]
- SQUIRREL ;; Love to climb trees, fast, sensitive, furry [All Clans, rarest in WindClan]
- ADDERS ;; Hard to catch, dangerous, one bite could kill a young apprentice or send them to the medicine den for moons. Not hunted for fresh-kill, but an apprentice must know how to handle one. Hands on practice frowned upon. [ThunderClan, ShadowClan]
- SPARROWS ;; Sensitive birds that love the shadows and damper areas [All clans, most common in ShadowClan]
- FISH ;; Found in rivers and ponds [RiverClan only]
- FIELD MICE ;; Mice that love to eat grains and wheat, easy to catch, found in fields and barns [WindClan]
TrackingYour apprentice must be able to scent other cats, and when prey is near, along with other animals such as badgers, foxes, dogs etc.
LESSON 2 ;;
Fighting & borders:
Your apprentice needs to know where the borders are, take them on a patrol.
Offensive;; Attacking the enemy without them attacking you first. You must know how to use your claws and teeth as well as your agility and strength.
Defensive ;; Defending against enemy attacks is just as important as attacking, you must be able to dodge a lot of attacks, and yet not tire out.
CLAN SPECIFIC TRAINING;;
THUNDERCLAN;;
ThunderClan is widely known as the best climbing Clan. You must teach your apprentice to be skillful at climbing trees. They should be able to most swiftly and skillfully among the lower branches should they need to hunt climbing squirrels or execute a sneak attack from above.
SHADOWCLAN;;
ShadowClan has earned a reputation for their adept nocturnal lifestyle. Your apprentice must be taught to hunt and fight at night so they can defend or feed their Clan even with no moon to guide their paws. By the time they earn their warrior name, your apprentice must know how to stalk unseen and unheard through the shadows.
RIVERCLAN;;
RiverClan is the only Clan brave enough to get their paws wet. Your apprentice should be a skilled swimmer, able to move silently through the water. They need to be able to move swiftly from the depths to attack their enemies on the shore.
WINDCLAN;;
Because of their open moor lifestyle, WindClan apprentices should be trained to observe. They should be taken to a vantage point such as the top of one of the slopes around camp. They must then hone their skills until they can see danger coming from any direction.
WindClan cats must be swift to be able to chase down and catch their main prey, rabbits. WindClan apprentices must work on their speed, often being taken by their mentors to run laps to work on their technique.
LESSON 3 ;;
Assessment;;Give them these three tests, make the test how you wish but remember:Fighting Skill;;
Test their ability to fight. You can test their skills against another apprentice or warrior as long as you or the Clan leader is observing the fight.
Hunting Skill;;
Follow them on a hunt, but stay out of sight. A mentor is not to interfere in any way with their apprentices hunting assessment, they must pass or fail on their own merit.
Tracking;;
Recruit another apprentice or warrior and give them a head start before sending your apprentice to track them. Set an end point and see if your apprentice can successfully track and catch their quarry before they reach the point.
Clan Specific;;
See list above and be sure the apprentice is tested on specific skills that will help them thrive in their specific Clan.
