Hollowstar could tell without lifting his head what the weather was like outside his den. He was warm and comfy in his nest. More importantly, he was dry in his nest. There was the unmistakable patter of rain outside, though the black tom could tell that it wasn't very heavy. His shorter furred Clanmates would have to worry about getting wet sooner than he would with his thick fur, but once he was soaked, he would stay that way longer. With a sigh, Hollowstar pushed himself into a sitting position and started straightening his pelt in preparation for the day. It couldn't have been very long after dawn. He could hear his Clanmates moving around the camp outside, but not very many of them. Likely, they wouldn't be outside if they didn't have to.
The leader loomed in the entrance of his den, barely visible in the shadows before taking a deep breath and padding out into the camp. A light groan escaped his mouth as a raindrop hit him square on the nose. He shuffled over to the fresh-kill pile and started nosing around for something that wasn't too wet. The pile was fuller than it had been in the previous moons, but his Clan had still not quite recovered from the hard times of leafbare.

Tigertail let out a lazy yawn. She could hear the water falling pitter-patter against the ground, and yet some bee-brained cats were already up and moving. She sighed as a warrior bumped her on his way out of the den.
No patrol is worth a soggy pelt! she huffed indignantly. Leaf-bare just got through with us, do they all want to catch a cold?
Yet the promise of daily duties was what made Tigertail sit up and leave the warrior's den. She was only getting cold inside, and a run through the pinewood would warm her up. With one glance at the fresh-kill pile she grimaced - she didn't want soggy prey.
I'll catch something warm, she decided. Looking about at the awakened warriors, she wondered to herself, Will anyone go with me?

Hollowstar had gne through the whole fresh-kill pile and been unable to find something that hadn't been out in the rain too long for his liking. He made a mental note to send a hunting patrol out as soon as the rain was done to catch fresh prey. In the mean time, he was sure some of his other Clanmates would pick at the current pile of prey. He turned around and spotted Tigertail looking his way and guessed that she, too, had been scoping out the fresh-kill pile. The black tom meandered over to her and looked back at the pile over his shoulder. "It's all pretty wet," he stated with a small sigh. "Feeling up for a hunt? I'm sure we can find something a little fresher," he meowed. He'd meant the last part as kind of a joke and gave himself a little chuckle as he waited for Tigertail to answer.

Hunting? With the Clan leader? Tigertail was shocked he would ask. She figured he would only go on patrols with the deputy or senior warriors.
"Sure," she mewed back, "if you want. I wouldn't mind something warm."

Hollowstar smiled and dipped his head towards the camp entrance. "Lead the way," he meowed. They might be able to find some mostly dry prey in the forest, but then, even if they couldn't, wet fur and a warm body was better than what was sitting in the fresh-kill pile now. Hollowstar's belly rumbled softly and he thought about how a younger him wouldn't be this picky and would have a full belly by now.

Tigertail quickened her pace towards the entrance, her belly urging her on. Already she was feeling warmer and drier, and though she was nervous about hunting with the Clan leader, she knew it would be no different than hunting with another warrior. She only hoped that the rain wouldn't overflow the marshes and ruin their efforts.

Hollowstar was feeling quite relaxed as he followed Tigertail out of the camp. Sometimes, he forgot that he could do things other than be leader of the Clan and going on a casual hunt with one of his Clanmates was the perfect way to remind himself that it was a thing that could still happen. After all, underneath his leader name and nine lives, he was still a warrior and warriors hunted. The black tom paused once they were out of the camp entrance and glanced to Tigertail. Hunting in the swampier parts of the territory would probably be a little less than fun. The rain hadn't been excessive, but going into the marsh after any rain was typically unpleasant. "Where do you think we should look first?" he asked.

Adderpaw watched his sister and leader leave camp, eyes narrowed against the cold wind. Unlike Tigertail, he wasn't long-furred. With a sigh, he thought about when he and Tigerkit would 'hunt' together. As in, attack each others tails. But hunting wouldn't be for him. He was a medicine cat. Not a warrior.

Whilst many cats had already begun to stir from their sleep in the camp, Hawkcloud was slowly attempting to get up and going. It wasn't all that easy for her to wake up these days- the rain she now heard most likely being the main reason as usual- but she knew very well that walking around and checking on her clanmates was worth the struggle. Leaf-bare seemed to have come and gone with an interesting step but she still couldn't let her guard down.
After all, whitecough was a potential threat even in the beginning of newleaf.
'I have to make sure that every cat in Shadowclan is healthy.' The medicine cat thought to herself while standing up and giving her left hind paw a good shake. 'If even one of us catches whitecough, I'm not sure I will have enough catmint for them.'
