Urgent Care [Hollowstar, Tigertail, Medicine Cats]

It had felt like it had taken an eternity to make it back to the camp. True, Hollowstar and Tigertail hadn't gone very far on their hunt, but he was trying not to move her too fast on her injury. A spark of relief flared in his belly as they made their way into the camp. "Hawkcloud!" he called for the medicine cat. "Adderpaw! Come quickly!" The black tom turned his head to see how Tigertail was faring. He'd been giving her a shoulder to lean on on the way back, but he didn't know how bad the fall from the tree had hurt her.

Adderpaw dashed out of the medicine den, chest clenching at the sight of Tigertail in pain. "What happened to her!?" He yowled, tail lashing. Making a beeline for his sister, he pressed himself against her, both to check for heat and comfort. "StarClan, Tigertail!" He gasped, at a loss for what he needed to ask.

"Lay down. Your leg is swelling." The tabby tom murmured to his litter mate, worry causing the toms eyes to glaze from his normal focus and discipline to his job. "Hawkcloud! We need comfrey, bindwood, and stinging nettle! Do we have it?!" He called to his mentor, ready to cross borders for them. Tigertail was his sister, his litter mate, he had to many memories of pummeling her and watching her prance into camp and chiding her-

Adderpaw attempted to calm himself, not wanting to scare her. "How bad does it hurt?"

Tigertail glanced up at her brother. He was darting to and fro, his eyes wide and wild. His fur was stuck up like a newborn kit as he yowled for herbs. When he looked at her, she could see the fear in his eyes.

"It's not too bad," Tigertail admitted, scoffing at her brother. "See?"

She lifted her leg.

And then yowled in pain. The shock of what had happened was now wearing off, and the throbbing was back in Tigertail's body. She lowered her leg and panted, trying to relieve the pain.

Great, she thought. Just... great.

Hearing her apprentice's cries along with those of her leader, Hawkcloud promptly stepped out of her den to assess the current events; the she-cat taking note of Adderpaw's question while she pinned her ears back. Tigertail's yowling was already beginning to be a bit overwhelming for her and Starclan help her if she stopped thinking about what to do.

"We have both comfrey and some nettle," The medicine cat spoke with trembling whiskers. "But our bindwood stores have been depleted for moons."

Abruptly, she flicked her tail as her eyes looked to focus on Tigertail. She had come to have a sense of admiration for the dark tabby and her abilities- as well as her brother's- but alas, luck came and went regardless of how talented one is. The she-cat sighed. "Let's get you into the den. You comfort is my priority here and standing will just make things worse."

Hollowstar was unable to shake the guilty feeling as the medicine cats assessed their patient. He hadn't forced Tigertail to climb the tree, but it had been his idea to hunt. And it didn't help him any that he didn't know how to help. Truthfully there wasn't a way for him to help as he knew nothing about healing. "If you need her in the medicine den, I can help her," he meowed. He was unsure if they would have her lie down as Adderpaw had instructed or if they would take it somewhere more private like Hawkcloud said. He guessed it depended all on how much pain Tigertail was feeling. If they went into the medicine den, Hollowstar would have to wait outside. He was far too big to be in the medicine den with all of them without being helpful. At least if that happened, he would have an excuse to go back and fetch their prey. Then he could make sure she would have something dry to eat once she was all patched up.

Tigertail couldn't help but grimace as she was hobbled into the den, leaning against Hawkcloud. She sensed her brother's worry, pounding like the waves of water against the lakeshore. He would certainly not leave her side.

She did her best to keep her weight off of her paw, but the times she did have to step the pain left her dizzy. I can still move my leg, though, she thought. I can't be completely broken, right?

Right?

As the medicine cat helped the warrior in, she couldn't help but feel a little shaken up herself. She was always a little too empathetic in these situations. If an apprentice would fall incredibly ill, she'd feel as though she was sick herself. Speaking of which, it didn't help that she herself once had to go through a whole set of ailments prior to her apprenticeship. At least she could relate to others and their pains.

"Here, lay down on this bedding." Hawkcloud instructed, eyes watching Tigertail very closely. "Is it alright if you tell me what exactly happened? That way, I can see how much damage there is."

Tigertail didn't lay so much as she flopped down into the nest. She stuck out her injured leg awkwardly, grimacing as pain shot up and down her limb.

"I was chasing a squirrel up a tree and I got stuck," Tigertail reported. "When I tried to get down I slipped and fell. Now my leg hurts like a Clan of bees has stung it!"

[Hawkcloud]

"A sprain, then." She commented with a gentle smile; the medicine cat showing great relief by relaxing her haunches. "Sprains are easier to heal than broken bones and for a warrior like yourself, the latter would be extremely unfortunate."

Turning towards the entrance of the den, she walked forward and poked her head out to look for Hollowstar and Adderpaw. Hopefully her leader wouldn't mind if she asked him to go with the apprentice to find the required herbs for Tigertail's treatment. "Adderpaw? Hollowstar? Could you please come here?"

Hollowstar was hovering nearby, waiting for news and was on his paws an instant after Hawkcloud called for him and Adderpaw. "What is it?" he asked. Surely she was about to deliver some bad news like, StarClan forbid, the young warrior's leg was broken. The black tom tried to remember if he'd noticed her leg sticking out or bending at odd angles. He didn't think her leg had looked strange, but he'd also never seen a cat with a broken leg before, so there was that. "Do you need us to fetch you something?"
